Discovering Spirituality and My Journey Beyond Organized Religion
Introduction
In today's post, I want to take you on a deeper journey through my spiritual beliefs and experiences. This isn't about converting anyone or promoting a specific path but about sharing my perspective and encouraging open-mindedness in exploring spirituality.
Exploring Spirituality vs. Organized Religion
Spirituality, for me, is about connecting with something greater than ourselves, whether you culturally call the greater God, the Most High, or Source. It's not confined to the ideas of organized religion. I respect where you are and aren’t in your spiritual wellness journey and, in the communities I build, I ask that you do the same.
After all, everyone's spiritual journey is unique. We should all have the freedom to explore our beliefs without judgment.
The Importance of Being Single for Self-Discovery
One crucial aspect of my journey was the time spent in solitude in my single season. It was then that I could hear the Most High clearly and feel the presence of God. I truly started to understand myself, and my beliefs, and see where my foundation was shaky.
Being single allowed me to reflect deeply and gain insights that I might have missed chasing love. Learning who I was in God’s kingdom, the gifts and anointing I had been blessed with, and why certain circumstances had transpired.
For all those in their single season, I encourage you to consider it as a time for self-discovery and enjoy it.
Religion and Personal Freedom
Blind adherence to religion without personal exploration can limit our understanding. Spirituality is fluid, and our beliefs can evolve. It's crucial to allow ourselves the freedom to explore and adapt our spiritual paths. For instance, I went from organized religion attending Christian - Methodist Black churches growing up to attending church where people were around my age and serving to opting for a deep relationship with God and listening to sermons nearly daily in the comfort of my home as the Most High calls me to.
Again, this journey is deeply personal. We owe it to ourselves to seek what truly resonates with us.
Conclusion
You don't need any one person’s permission to explore this dimension of wellness.
Life is about growth and discovery, and your spiritual path is a significant part of that journey.
